From April 1st-4th, 1,442 exhibitors from 80 countries around the world gathered in Italy for the 56th Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Many Japanese publishers exhibited, and Shogakukan shared an array of charming works, including the 2018 winner of the Japanese Youth Culture Publication Prize (Nippon Jidō Bunka Shuppan-shō Jushō), The Samurai Lord’s Parade (Daimyo Gyoretsu). The booth became a place for cultural exchange and viewing original artwork by children’s book illustrators from a number of countries. Publishers and readers alike enjoyed visiting the special exhibit and shops.
